We are progressing slowly but we are almost 75% of the way there!

Public Meeting?

Do you think it would benefit the campaign if I organised a public meeting in the Hanwell Village Hall?

We could discuss:

How other campaigns are progressing, what they are doing etc, Oxfordshire Rural Broadband have helped about 15 campaigns in the south of the county to hit their triggers.

Alternatives, if we had enough businesses claiming the SEEDA/RABBIT grant of £700 we could get ORB to design and implement a wireless network that linked the villages together with either satellite or ADSL from Banbury, or if enough a leased line. The network would then be open to the consumer population to use.

Based on the work done at the end of last year a wireless network could link several exchanges together, including Cropredy, Edge Hill and Wroxton

Oxfordshire Rural Broadband

ORB have obtained grant funding from the West Oxfordshire Network (EEC, SEEDA, LEADER+) to put a wireless broadband network into the Wychwood forest region

note I need to express an interest here, I am Finance Director of ORB ltd which is a company limited by guarantee registered under the COOP UK rules and is owned by its members

We need your help

We need as many registrations as we can get, could you print the attached form and ask your neighbours if they have registered. If everyone asks the 5 neighbours either side we will soon reach the trigger and BT will be able to set a date for ADSL enablement.

Remember it is all BT Phone numbers.

It is not a commitment to buy broadband.

You don’t even need to be an internet user.

The lack of broadband is affecting house prices and businesses are relocating to broadband enabled areas.

The info we need is:

Name

Phone Number (s)

Post Code

RFS (Ready for Service) dates are already moving out to 22 December 2004, due to technical requirements of some of the exchanges, so we need to move now!
