It seems I hit the spot last month with my article about the Practice Advisory Forum.Twelve of you responded and expressed a desire to attend the event we are planning with Ian Morris. Thank you.

Ian will give a short presentation after the TVSCA AGM on 15th May at the Oxford Centre, Banbury Road, Oxford, where Fiona Hodgkin, from Learning & Professional Development, will join him and talk about the new Pathways scheme.

I attended the first Practice Advisory Board (PAB) forum at Moorgate Place titled: The War for Talent – shaping our future – equipping you to attract and keep the best.

Nick Land, former chairman of Ernst & Young and now PAB chairman, outlined his vision for the PAB, saying its principal role was to establish strong networks in order to be:
? a campaigner as the voice and conscience of members in practice
? a catalyst to influence institute activities and services
? a focal point within the Institute for identification of issues

This is my article from the March edition of TVSCA Stoppress:

During summer 2006 our Institute created five key advisory boards – Practice, Business, Young Professionals, International and Public Sector. These are focal points within the Institute for matters of strategic and operational interest and concern to members across all segments of the membership. The information flow is meant to be two way members to centre and centre to members. To this end the Practice Advisory Board is running a forum in March entitled “Shaping our Future”. It is the District Societies intention to send a representative to this event and for him/her to report back to the membership. In the meantime we will also be planning a local event, where Ian Morris (immediate Past President) will present the Board’s aims and views to the District Society. This is my February Stoppress article:

I would like to thank the members who responded to my request for feedback on Stoppress, four in support with one against, not bad for January. Last week I received a letter from Reed Business School, offering a ?50 discount for those member firms that unfortunately have students who recently failed their exams. Full details are on my or available from the download box. It is a requirement of the offer to submit a copy of this letter.
